Every Day Valkyrie

Every Day Valkyrie
The road winds long before me,
I see far in the distance
the mists close to the ground--

Slowly I set my foot upon the path
that surely shall lead me far from home,
far from all I have ever known--

Where shall I stand?
Where next shall I lay me down?
My spirit feels the need to roam
as I fall into the rhythm of my soul--

I cry the call of the raven deep within me--
My inner Valkyrie shines forth
she who seeks that within each individual
which can be taken away, never to be seen again,
the loss of years gone by,
the fruitless toil of efforts never made manifest,
loves spoken or kept hidden deep inside
each lovers breast,
the pains felt inflicted from within
as well as without
which should never be relived again--
Yes, I am Chooser Of The Slain--

I move silently in the world about me,
none look long enough to see
where my passage has just been,
yet a lingering awareness they may have
when feeling that sense of release
within themselves--

A deeper knowing,
a joining to the world consciousness
is what I grant--

I am nobody's Norn
coming to them on the day they are born.
Instead I come each day that someone lives
clearing the path of rubble,
the wreckage that becomes strewn along the way
as the battles of life are fought.

Whether within yourself
or with the world at large
each confrontation holds a key
in defeats perceived
or victory.

What you choose is what it will be.
Invite me into your home whether knowingly or not
by the challenges you face,
by the terrors that you flee,
I am every man, woman and child's Valkyrie--

Swan-woman, raven hair,
she with the eagle's call
I answer to these all--

But when it comes down to it
Truly I am still,
just me--

Though hurdles I may help you jump
by relieving you of past burdens
it is you who must take the task to hand,
flying on the wind's wings...

My heart, my hope, my love
I give hoping always hoping
you will shine in the days to come,
new warriors all I know you can be,
warriors of life, love and liberty--
